Av. Dr. Serdar KARABABA, a solicitor and barrister of Istanbul Bar Association and a qualified lawyer for over twenty years, has been our Office's founding partner since 2007. Dr. Karababa had been invited to the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London as a visiting scholar to conduct his academic research particularly on International Investment Law and International Arbitration besides International Economic Law and Commercial Law. He holds a Ph.D. degree on Commercial Law from University of İstanbul and had an experience as a visiting at Umea University/Sweeden, School of Law. Dr. Karababa have experiences as a part-time/senior university lecturer and legal trainer at different universities and institutions. His researches are mainly focused on investor protection in the context of financial transactions, takeovers, cross border trade and various fields of international private, commercial law and economic law.
He combined his academic perspective with an invaluable practical experiences and brought expertise to his jobs. He worked for many leading corporate firms as a legal counsel more than five years. Dr. Karababa practiced and specialized in Turkish and international commercial law, economic law, banking and finance law, business law, company law, contracts law, capital markets and competition law, intellectual property law, investment law and regulations, dispute resolution with working experience in data protection, IT law, aviation, project finance, takeovers, M&A, litigation and arbitration.
He also submit legal opinions as an expert to commercial courts and relevant institutions, legal bodies. Dr. Karababa is the author of numerous books and publications range from commercial law, company law, capital markets law to international investment law and arbitration and business law with a special emphasis on comparative law. He is also a member of many occupational associations and commissions in Turkey and abroad (Alumni and Friends of the School of International Arbitration of Queen Mary, University of London – AFSIA, London Turkish Business and Professionals Network Platform etc). Foreign languages are English (advanced) and German (elementary).
The majority of his practice involves helping small and medium-sized businesses as well as establishing legal infrastructure and plans for sustainable growth and corporate governance of large scale companies and advising on various legal matters of complex business operations.
